Who wants to get funky?
Well you should know by now that I do; I want to get funky! The Virginia Beach Funk Fest is an annual event occurring the last weekend in August. RV peeps flock to Virginia Beach on this magical weekend to catch up with friends, listen to good music and reminisce on days long gone by. For over 12 years, it has been getting funky with groups such as Morris Day and the Time and Con Funk Shun. There is no wonder why the Funk Fest is so popular.
And, the event is completely free! Just bring a blanket or lawn chair and hang out at the beach amongst many new friends. But, if you want to be bougie, you can buy tickets and be closer to the band. Just know this, I will judge you from a far.
Where To Stay for the Virginia Beach Funk Fest
1. Travel L Holiday Park
Travel L Holiday RV Park has great amenities including a dog park, bike trail, a parking lot close to the beach and a few swimming pools. I chose the Holiday Travel L because all my friends were here. Do not fret. If you do not have an RV, this place also has tent sites, basic cabins and air-conditioned cabins. There is something for every budget.
Extend your stay a few days to explore Virginia Beach. The Trolley stops at the park and for a few bucks you can hop on and off.
2. Virginia Beach KOA
Although I did not stay at the Virginia Beach KOA for the Funk Fest, I have previously stayed at the Virginia Beach KOA. The amenities at this KOA are also great. There are two swimming pools, a bouncy thing for the kids, access to the beach via the Virginia Beach KOA as well as usual KOA amenities. KOA is one of my favorite RV companies as I can easily reserve last minute sites via their application.
3. First Landing State Park
First Landing State Park has remained elusive to me. The park is extremely popular as it is notably on the beach. If you are a better planner than I am, you will be successful in finding a site. However I have yet to find dates that match my schedule. But, I will get you one day…my pretty!
Want to Party Too?
